Adding XSplit to the Bitdefender exclusion list

Bitdefender’s module hooks are known to cause crashes or freezing for both XSplit Broadcaster and XSplit Gamecaster.

We advise adding XSplit applications to Bitdefender’s exclusion list or disable Bitdefender before continuing to run XSplit.

To exclude XSplit from Bitdefender’s module hooks:
1.) Open Bitdefender and go to the Protection tab by clicking the shield icon.

2.) Click VIEW FEATURES.
Click on VIEW FEATURES on the Protection tab on Bitdefender.

3.) Click the gear icon under the ANTIVIRUS panel.
Click on the Gear icon under the ANTIVIRUS panel.

4.) Click on the Exclusions tab.

5.) Click the ADD button on the ‘List of files and folders excluded from scanning’ accordion menu.

6.) Click Browse then select your XSplit Broadcaster and/or XSplit Gamecaster installation folder(s).
 

The default installation folders are C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitmediaLabs\XSplit Gamecaster\
and C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitmediaLabs\XSplit Broadcaster\


7.) Make sure that Both is selected to exclude these folders from both on-access and on-demand scanning then click Add to save the exclusions.

Your file and folders exclusion list should look like this once you add both installation folders.

8.) Click on the shield icon to go back to the Protection tab then click VIEW FEATURES again.

9.) Click on Application Access on the SAFE FILES panel.

10.) Click Add a new application to the list

11.) Select and browse for XSplit.Core.exe in your XSplit Broadcaster installation folder then click OK.
The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitmediaLabs\XSplit Broadcaster\XSplit.Core.exe.

12.) Select and browse for XSplit.Gamecaster.exe in your XSplit Gamecaster installation folder then click OK.
The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitmediaLabs\XSplit Gamecaster\XSplit.Gamecaster.exe.

Your Application Access screen should look like this once you add both XSplit applications.

13.) Click on the shield icon to go back to the Protection tab then click VIEW FEATURES again.

14.) Click the gear icon under the ADVANCED THREAT DEFENSE panel.
Click on the Gear icon under the ADVANCED THREAT DEFENSE panel.

15.) Click Add applications to the whitelist

16.) Select and browse for XSplit.Core.exe in your XSplit Broadcaster installation folder then click OK.
The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitmediaLabs\XSplit Broadcaster\XSplit.Core.exe.

17.) Select and browse for XSplit.Gamecaster.exe in your XSplit Gamecaster installation folder then click OK.
The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitmediaLabs\XSplit Gamecaster\XSplit.Gamecaster.exe.

Your Advanced Threat Defense screen should look like this once you add both XSplit applications.

18.) Restart your computer after making these changes, then launch XSplit Broadcaster or XSplit Gamecaster.

¹If you are using the PTR version of XSplit Broadcaster, you will also need to add it to the exclusions above. The default installation folder and file will be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitmediaLabs\XSplit Broadcaster PTR\XSplit.Core.exe.
